Sugar Workers from Holguín Face a Broad Plan to Sow Sugarcane
Sugar workers in the province of Holguin, among the largest producers of crude sugar in the country intensify their work to plant in the second semester not less than nine thousand hectares of sugarcane, the highest number in recent times in the territory.
The initial surface of the plan set for the stage is added to over one thousand hectares left to plant in the first half, mainly due to the effects caused by the rains, Rolando Guerrero, director of planting of the Holguin sugar company, told reporters.
The largest effort will correspond to the production units of Urbano Noris and Cristino Naranjo, where the bulk of the program is concentrated, although in the remaining three sugarcane entities Holguin has, the effort must also be present to achieve the high plan of the stage that it is extended from July to December.
In the last three years the sugar mills of the eastern territory have been averaging over 14 thousand hectares of sugarcane planted, in an effort to stabilize the integral program of this front of the production of crude oil before the demands of the national economy as one of its main exportable items.
To achieve the extensive sowing commitment of this second half of the year, the producing entities of this branch have internally the work force and the necessary means to fulfill the plan, although at certain times they will require the support of other agencies in the face of the urgency of achieving the goal of 2018 that totals 16 thousand 300 hectares.
