The children-youth project "Voices of the Audiovisual" of the municipality of Gibara in Holguin honored with its work the continuity of the legacy of Humberto Solás in the recently concluded International Film Festival of Gibara.

Lázaro García, director of Voces del Audiovisual, explained that the project arose on the initiative of the museologist Bárbara López, who in 2010 managed to materialize the dream of the filmmaker, Solás, who died on September 18, 2008; to encourage audiovisual creation from an early age.

He said that in these eight years his main objective is to achieve a path of leisure and learning, where children and youngsters enter the audiovisual world but always doing so from the game to not neglect the essence of childhood.

About 20 children and adolescents between nine and 19 years of age make up this group of realization with more than 10 materials made among documentaries, fiction shorts and promotional spots.

Of these products stands out the documentary "Children of the present", said Lázaro, which collects the testimonies of several children from Gibara that tell from their perspective the experiences of them and their families before the flogging of Hurricane Ike in 2008 and the alternatives that they found to keep the joy.

Garcia elaborated that the work was dedicated especially to the children of Haiti, as a message of support to those who suffer from natural disasters and epidemics very often such as cholera.

He described the audiovisual creation workshops convened by the project coordinators as the means of insertion of all the interested parties based on aptitudes demonstrated in these spaces that are developed mainly in the areas occupied by the Museum of Natural Sciences.

However, he clarified, for the filming of the products they always summon the people of Gibara, the protagonists par excellence of their works and for this they perform auditions where the children in their role as producers, cameramen, directors or scriptwriters direct the selection process.

Isac García, a 15-year-old project founder, thanked the opportunity to have been linked to this initiative since he was seven years old and said he has grown not only in knowledge but also as a human being from the interaction with many other people.

The digital portal Lente Jibá is another of the achievements of "Voices of the Audiovisual", which managed by its members informs people of all its activities, which insert other audiovisual related to the cleaning of beaches in favor of environmental protection.

The Yumurí festivals in Matanzas, Cámara Chica in Pinar del Río, Rounding your fantasy in Villa Clara, the Fotoface space in the Romerías de Mayo and the Gibara International Film Festival in Holguín are some of the events that annually welcome these restless boys who with a camera in hand give free rein to the creation.
