The sanitary-epidemiological situation focuses the daily work of the Public Health System in Holguin, which remains the main municipality of the province with the highest number of outbreaks and closed houses in Cuba. Eduardo Michel Serrano, director of Hygiene and Epidemiology, said that despite a significant decrease in both infestation and transmission from previous stages still there is no real perception of certain individuals and family nuclei of the risk taken when indications of Public Health are not met within the sanitation program. He noted that so far the presence of aedes aegypti mosquito is reported in a scattered way in nine of the 10 areas of health existing in the provincial capital, especially in the polyclinics Manuel Diaz Legrá, Rene Avila, Mario Gutierrez and Pedro del Toro. Among the most immediate concerns is, he said, the instability of the body of operators of vectors, so about 50 workers are now being enabled through a training course in a branch of the University of Medical Sciences to contribute to the effectiveness of the Operation Health. Amalia Ricardo, a neighbor from Frexes street, said that she felt grateful whenever workers come to her house, and stated that she never refuses the checkup or fumigation because that action becomes health and safety for the whole family. However, Ramon del Rio, mobilized by the Revolutionary Armed Forces to support this task, alleged the indolence that still persists in the population, because there are people who refuse or mistreat workers as if they carry hassles and no benefits.
